This week's teaser is from Libyrinth by Pearl North, a book that I have already read once and am in the process of rereading because I enjoyed it so much.

"Every book is a door into someone's soul," said Theseslaides.

"I can hear books," said Haly, refocusing on Ithaster. "They speak to me. That's why the book was closed. I was speaking what the book told me."

While I have already finished My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares and posted my review here.  It is not a book I can actually stop thinking about so I decided to give you a teaser from the prologue. It is also a bit longer than the two sentences I normally provide...

I've never had a child, and I've never gotten old. I don't know why. I have seen beauty in countless things. I have fallen in love, and she is the one who endures. I killed her once and died for her many times and I still have nothing to show for it. I always search for her; I always remember her. I carry the hope that someday she will remember me.

Check back later this week as I will be giving away an autographed copy of My Name is Memory!

Here is my teaser:

Lad, though he is an arrogant fool, he's a dangerous man and never to be trusted. Never. I order you to stay out of his way. Do not approach Sir Hugh ever, under any circumstances but especially alone.

This week's my teaser comes is from the Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzales

What a difference a few months made! Before, I didn't want to think about the people being jailed , killed or forced to leave their homes. I thought those people must have done something  wrong or just didn't love Cuba enough. But now I knew better. It had become clear. Castro was, in one way or another, eliminating those who did not agree with him.

I have hear really great things about this and other books by Maria V. Snyder's so I borrowed this from the library. I just began it and I am already sure it will be a good read.

This week's Teaser is from The Summer of Skinny Dipping by Amanda Howells:

Back at the house I caught my breathe on the deck, my mind spinning. I couldn't forget the way they'd all looked at me as I walked away: half-entertained by me, half-annoyed, like I was a random idiot who had gate-crashed their exclusive gathering.

I have only just started this book and am so far enjoying the story.

This week's teaser comes from Storm Glass by Maria V. Snyder. I have been seeing a lot about this series since the next one in the series Spy Glass is due to be released in September, and I wanted to read the first two books before then.

Without, warning, Tricky slapped me. The force sent me reeling back as pain stung my cheek.

My teaser this week comes from James Patterson's recent release of yet another Maximum Ride novel. I have been reading this series since it first came out and while with all series, some of the books are better than others. However, when I saw that he was giving Fang his own title, I was more than a little excited.

I open my mouth and shrieked, as loud and as widly as I wanted. "Ohhgodohhnooooiiihitjusthurrrtssssooomuuuch!" The scream was torn from my throat by the wind, and finally I choked, sucking in air, half sobbing my voice raw from yelling for so long.

This week's teaser comes from a book I am reading for the Once Upon a Time Challenge entitled Dwarves by Markus Heitz.

"Who pays for your handiwork?" demanded Tungil. "Tell us, and you'll be spared."

"We'll leave you to drown in your blood if you don't, " Ireheart said threateningly.

I have just started this book. It reads very much like J.R.R. Tolkien and while I loved Tolkien,  like Tolkien,  I got a feeling this is not going to be a quick read.

Toby switched the view on his crossbow from CLOSE-UP to wide, then looked into the scope to try to sopt the man who had almost snatched him a few moments earlier. No sign of him.

This week's teaser is from a book I pick up last week at the library call Past World by Ian Beck

What if all of London were really an amusement park--a whole city returned to Victorian times to entertain visitors from the twenty-first century? That's the wildly original premise of Ian Beck's Pastworld, a high-stakes mystery set in a simulated past.
Eve is a lifelong resident of Pastworld who doesn't know she's living in a theme park until a mysterious threat forces her to leave home. Caleb is a visiting tourist who finds the lawlessness of the past thrilling--until he suddenly becomes a fugitive from an antiquated justice system. And in the midst of it all, in the thick London fog a dark and deadly figure prowls, claiming victim after victim. He's the Fantom, a creature both of the past and of the present, in whose dark purpose Caleb and Eve will find their destinies combined.
Page-turning, complex, and haunting, Pastworld masterfully exposes the human experience of the past, of violence, of technology, and of entertainment (from Powell Books).

Here is the teaser:
Since his first mysterious appearance and his daring crimes the Fantom has assumed a special place in the mythology of Pastworld. But he has an Achilles' heel.

This weeks teaser come from Secret Society by Tom Dolby. I got this book on a recent trip to the library.
She didn't even know if she felt safe going home. As she walked to the corner, she started seeing signs of the ankh everywhere: on buildings, in graffti, carved into concrete. Maybe her mind was playing tricks on her.

I just started this one and I think it may turn out to be intriguing. It reminded me of the movie, The Skulls, with Joshua Jackson. Love him in Fringe.

Sea Clearwater was written by Selene Gardnas when she was 13 years-old and is working on the next book in the Clearwater series. I am very anxious to read it if for no other reason than it was written by a 13 year-old (I teach this age group and it blows me away that someone this young has published a book.

Here is the teaser:

"Eric motioned his hand to the right. A beast known as a Flensar appeared gnashing its long teeth and swishing its hairy tail. "We're heading to Flemar, the ruins of the fire benders."

This weeks Teaser comes from Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George:

Another rumble from deep in the bear's throat. He sat back and the lass leaned against his warm, furry torso. Even though she'd thought her tears had dried,  a new wave swept over her, and she wept into the bear's soft fur for a long time.

I have had this book in my pile for a couple of weeks and have just started reading it, finally.

Today's book is Dragonfly Pool by Eva Ibbotson. I original found this title reviewed on Bookshelves of Doom and liked what I read about it.

Frederica, Countess of Aveling, was tall and bony and dressed entirely in black, becasue someone in the Royal Houses of Europe had always died. She was in fact a human being, but she might as easily have been a garagoyle that had stepped down from the roof of a dark catherdral.

I am currently reading Four Things My Geeky-Jock-of-a-Best-Friend Must Do in Europe  by Jane Harrington. I picked this up at the library when I went looking for my dopplerganger for challenge #1 ( there are twelve all together) on the Take Another Chance Challenge hosted by Find Your Next Book Here. This was the only book on the shelf with the initials J.H., which even though my last name has two words in it and the first part starts with “von”, the von is not actually used as an initial. So here goes:

"Then, we (that means my mother) studied the subway map, and we (that means my mother) decided to take the subway to Parc Guelle, a place that has artsy statues and stuff done by a local artist named Gaudi, who designed bunches of buildings in Barcelona and lived at some other time that my mother told me all about as we rode the subway, which might have interested me if I weren’t sleep-deprived, having been at the Roman Ruins party and walking around the boat until midnight.
    (Breathe...)"

While I have not gotten too far into this book, it is definitely funny and should be a very fast read.

On another note, I have been merrily skipping through the blogosphere dropping comments as I go thanks to MotherReader's Comment Challenge. To date I have left 60 comments since Sunday. While this is definitely time consuming, it has been well worth it. I an awed, fascinated, and down right jealous at all the amazing and wonderful bloggers this community has. I have to send out a special thank you to  Kristi, at Purple Polka ( great blog to check out) for turning me onto the wonderful bookshelf in my sidebar. I love it.

Getting late (4:45 A.M.) and I only have about 45 minutes left to read some before I have to ready myself for another day in the classroom. My kids are going to the library to pick out fairy tales to analyze them plot and theme. This should be interesting!
