Back at the house I caught my breathe on the deck, my mind spinning. I couldn't forget the way they'd all looked at me as I walked away: half-entertained by me, half-annoyed, like I was a random idiot who had gate-crashed their exclusive gathering.

I have only just started this book and am so far enjoying the story.
