It Monday Here's What I'm Reading

Monday, July 12, 2010
It's Monday What Are You Reading is a wonderful weekly meme hosted by Shelia  at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, and asks you to answer the question: What are you reading?

I had a really good reading week and did some fun things with my reviews.

i so don't do spooky by Barrie Summy (In the Middle Monday Book Look review)
Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Reeds Brennan
Princess of Glass by Jessica Day George
Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston  Darklight by Lesley Livingston  (Living and Loving Lesley Livingston combined review)
Firespell by Choe Neill (Show Me Five Saturday Review)
Skinned by Robin Wasserman

IQ The White  House by Roland Smith

I also did my first book cover recreate. I have seen other blogger participate in recreating a book cover and always loved looking at what beautiful covers they came up with so when Cindy over at Princess Bookie  challenged us to recreate Holly Cupala's Tell Me a Secret cover I gave it a shot. Mine is far from the best, but I really enjoyed doing this. Make sure you check out all the recreated covers.

I only got a couple new book in the mail this week but I go quite a few books at the library. I love that I can reserve books online and have my library email me when they are ready for me to pick up.
Here are all the book I got.

Heartless by Anne Elisabeth Stengl (bought)
IQ The White House by Roland Smith (bought)
Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn (library)
Sisters Red by Jackson Pierce (library)

and

Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston (library)
Darklight by Lesley Livingston (library)
Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken (library)
Demon's Covenet by Sarah Rees Brennan (library)
Firespell by Chole Neill (library)
Angelology by Danielle Trussoni (library)
Dream Dark Silksinger by Laini Taylor (library)
Skinned by Robin Wasserman (library)

So I have lots to keep me busy this week, which is great since I will be participating in  Once Upon a Read-a-Thon hosted by Pure Imagination, Reading Angel and Candace's Book Blog.

and will also be participating in The Book Extravaganza being hosted by The Neverending Shelf and Bookworming in the 21st Century.  Make sure you check back as I will be hosting a giveaway as part of the Book Extravaganza.

Whoa, I am getting tired just thinking about this week! So what are you reading?

In My Mail Box

Sunday, June 27, 2010
IMM is a meme started by The Story Siren with some inspiration from  Pop Culture Junkie. IMM explores the weekly contents of my mailbox & books bought.

Seriously, I have a problem I can no longer ignore. I am a total bookaholic and if anyone knows of a BA  (Bookaholics Anonymous) group I can attend, email me today because I am so out of control.

This week I not only ordered books from Amazon, but made the greivous mistake and went into Books-a-Million to pick up a copy of Shiver and of course I bought a few other books too. (I can't just buy one can you?)

So here is what I purchased this week:

The Passage by Justin Cronin
Girl in Translation by Kwok
The Agency by Y. S. Lee
Princess of Glass by Jessica Day George
Sea by Heidi R. Kling
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev
Beastly by Alex Flinn
The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
Alison Dare Little Miss Adventures by J. Torres and J. Bone
Alison Dare The Heart of the Maiden by J. Torres and J. Bone
Graceling by Kristin Cashore (I had to have a copy even though I have listen to this on audio at least three times already)

I also received:

Watermark by Vanitha Sankaran (Thank you Staci)
i so don't do mysteries by Barrie Summy (from publisher)
i so don't do spooky by Barrie Summy (from publisher)
Don't Know Where Don't Know When by Annete Laing (from author)

And thanks to a very persuasive clerk at  Books-a-Million I now have a membership card and this lovely tote that I  used to carry all my purchases out of their store.

So anyone want to join me at an BA meeting?

The idea behind IMM is to put new books on your radar but to also encourage blogger interaction. IMM explores the weekly contents of my mailbox, and sometimes other fun goodies. So make sure you check out what lovelies can be found in other mailboxes too.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU AMAZING MOMMIES

Welcome to In My Mailbox! This meme began with The Story Siren with some inspiration from Alea of Pop Culture Junkie. The idea behind IMM is put new books on your radar but to also encourage blogger interaction. IMM explores the weekly contents of my mailbox & books bought. And sometimes other fun goodies. so make sure you check out what lovelies can be found in other mailboxes too.

Going to the mailbox this week was almost like Christmas. Each time I opened that little flap or checked my doorstop another brown box or envelope was waiting to jump out at me. Seriously, I think I have reached the ranks of a compulsive book buyer and while I admit I have problem, I also admit that I do not plan on stopping anytime soon.

Look at all my goodies:
Heist Society by Ally Carter
Shade by  Smith Ready
Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafron
Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey
The Red Pyramid by Rick Riodan
Young Samurai: The Way of the Warrior by Chris Bradford
Spells by Aprilynne Pike
School of Possibilities by Seita Parkkola (from Publisher)
Magickeepers by Erica Kirov (from Publisher)
The Pony Whisperer: Word on the Yard by Janet Rising (from Publisher)

Yikes after listing all these I realize I have to speed up the reading just to keep my head above the books.

So what's in your mailbox?

It's Monday Here's What I Am Reading/In My Mail Box

Monday, March 15, 2010
It's Monday What Are You  Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Shelia at One Person's Journey Through Books.  I also am combining this meme with another Mail Box Monday hosted by Kristi The Story Siren.

My spring break started Friday after parent teacher conferences and I have wasted no time getting in the groove.
This week I finished ...

Secret Society by Tom Dolby (see review)
Dream Life by Lauren Mechling
Pastworld by Ian Beck (see review)
This World We Live In by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith

I also acquire a much bigger TBR pile last week.

From my school's Book Fair I bought ...

Smile by Raina Telgemeier
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
Standing Against the Wind by Traci L. Jones
The Youngest Templar Keeper of the Grail by Michael P. Spradlin
Killer Pizza by Greg Taylor
Dog Whisper Rescue by Nicolas Edwards
Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender
The Musician's Daughter by Susanne Dunlap
Witch and Wizard by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet

and two graphic novels (a first for me)

Maximum Ride by James Patterson
Amulet Book One: The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi

Photobucket

This World We Live In by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan
Sing Me To Sleep by Angela Morrison
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

With so many great books I am having trouble deciding which one will be next. Thankfully, I have a whole week ahead of uninterrupted reading, so I can at least put a small dent in my pile. Check back next week to see which books I decide to read and manage to finish.

In My MailBox

Sunday, January 31, 2010
In My Mailbox is a weekly event to explore the books I received this week and is hosted by  Kristi at The Story Siren.

This is the first week I have participated in this event mainly because I have not had anything to explore until this week.

Bought:

Chasing Brooklyn by  Lisa Shroeder
The River by Mary Jane Beaufrand
They Never Came Back by Carolin Cooney
Incarceron by Catherine Fischer
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Received:

I am really excited about receiving an ARC copy of Eleventh Grade Burns by Heather Brewer, who is a local author. This is her fourth book in her Chronicles of Vladamir Tod series.  My students devour her books and have already lined up to read this one when I have finished as it is not due out for another week.

For more information on this series see my earlier review.
