2011 Challenge Post

Thursday, December 23, 2010
Last year I was a newbie to blogging and to all the fun challenges offered by all the different bloggers. This year I decided to create one post for all the different challenges I am signing up for. This way I can keep them in one nice neat spot and only have  to click once to keep track of them all. The dates are when I finished the book but do not reflect the date the review was posted. So here goes.

Up first is one of my favorite challenge from last year. The Debut Author Challenge. It is hosted by The Story Siren. I love reading first time authors, so I will be reading as many of these books as I can get my reading hands on this year!

  10. Ruby Red by Kristen Grier 5/30

Next is YA Bliss' YA Historical Fiction Challenge. I love historical fiction so this should be a easy one to reach my goal of 15 books.
  1.  Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly 1/2
  2. Cate of the Lost Colony by Lisa Klein 1/16
  3. Dark Mirror by M.J. Putney 2/11
  4. Walk the Wild Road by Nigel Hinton 5/1
  5. Magnolia League by Katie Crouch 5/12
  6. Ruby Red by Kristen Gier 5/31
  7. Moon Over Manifest 6/11
  8. The Romeo and Juliet Code 6/11

The Just for Fun Reading Challenge hosted by Dollycass' Thoughts is just that for fun and I am committing to reading one book a month just for the fun it.

  1.  Blameless by Gail Carriger 1/21
  2. The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger 2/20
  3. Looking for Alaska by John Green 3/27
  4.

I am really excited about this one hosted by Bookish Ardour because it will help me read only the books on my TBR Shelf, which has become an untamed beasty. I am signing up to read 75 book, which makes me a Hoarder.
  1.  Cate of the Lost Colony by Lisa Klein 1/16
  2. Wishful Thinking by Alexandra Bullen 1/20
  3. Looking for Alaska by John Green 3/27

I signed up the  Steampunk Challenge  hosted by The Bookkeeper. So far I have yet to read any of these books, but I will!
  1.  Soulless by Gail Carringer 1/16
  2. Changeless by Gail Carringer 1/17
  3. Blameless by  Gail Carringer 1/21

And what would 2011 be without all reading lots of fantasy? Well, thankfully there is a challenge for that and it is hosted by Darlyn & Books . I am somewhere between two levels: addicted and obsessed, so I will try for the later and fall back on addicted should I fall short.

Another challenge I just couldn't pass up is hosted by Beth Fish Reads. I love this lady's blog and What's in A Name 4 is going to be a really fun challenge. Check at the requirements and I bet you will join in too.

  6. A book with a life stage in the title:  Born at Midnight by C. C Hunter 2/2

This challenge really appeals to me because as I visit other blogs and read reviews of books I have missed I always think, "I wish I'd read that." So Misha @ My Love Affair with Books has designed this challenge with people just like me.

I will be going in at the addicted level and reading 12 books and hope to post my list a bit later.

Thanks Teresa.

Another challenge that I just had to participate in this year was the Wordsworth Reading Challenge hosted by Lynossa @ The Deranged Book Lovers. I have been wanting to read some of the classics in literature that I have missed (which is a lot more than I am willing to admit to), so this is a great way to remedy that. I am going with the Bourgeois level  which means I am going to read between 5-8 classics.

I participated in the POC challenge hosted by MissAttitude @ Reading in Color last year and completed it, but never linked any of my reviews. This year I am all in and am signing up for Level 5 10-15 books.
      1. Priscilla the Great by Sybil Nelson 1/2
      2. The Latte Rebellion by Sarah Jamila Stevenson 1/30
      3. Sellout by Ebony Joy Wilkins 3/6
      4. If I Tell by Janet Gurtler 10/3

So that is my list so far and  I will probably add a few more as I go (I have already added 3 since I first posted this). Let me know if you have found any more great 2011 challenges I should check out!

      Ahhhhh ~ this is EPIC.

I have no doubt you will do this though :)

I haven't signed up for any yet :) Mainly as I am lazy. I've actually read 187 books this year and I'm sure they would have made up a bundle of challenges between them.

Looking forward to the books of 2011, hey!

      have an awesome Christmas Jan!

I failed so epicly (epically?) this year that I'm afraid to even try.

If I do, I think I'll keep a running post instead of sidebar - might be easier in the end. I'm in awe of your acheivements and your plans for next year. If I do any challenges, (of course I'm thinking of a few) I'm going to keep it small and easy. yup! :)
