Book Blogger Appreciation Week

Monday, September 13, 2010

This is my first experience with Book Blogger Appreciation Week. Last year at this time my blog did not exist.

This year when I read about bloggers, who were entering their blogs, I knew I did not want to do enter, but I did want to participate, so I volunteered to judge. It was a tough job because there are so many great, wonderful, and inspiring bookish people who are doing fantastic reviews and posts that it was hard to choose just one from each category.

The more I blog the more I have learned, but it hasn't been an easy task. At first I was constantly afraid that I would do the wrong thing, and I still feel that there my reviews are never as good as I would like them to be. I also felt I would never get any followers.

Anyone today's question asks for those us new to BBAW, what was the first book blog you discovered?

Enter Kaye.

The first book blogger to join my site and encourage me was Kaye @ Kaye's Book Blog. Kaye's blog is now Home Girl's Book Blog, but I will always remember reading Kaye's post and joining her challenges. She was kind enough to give me advice from time to time answering questions I had, in an encouraging and supportive manner.

But I think what I learned most from Kaye was that despite how big her blog was (over a 1,000 followers) she took the time to visit my blog as well as others and leave comments. In fact sometimes she was my only comment. I learned that if I was going to expect other bloggers to visit me, I needed to visit them first. So thanks Kaye for helping this newbie learn the ropes.  I greatly appreciate it.

I think its wonderful that you stepped up to judge and I agree about the intimidation factor. Being a newby myself I concur with many of your comments, but agree the book bloggers are the best!
