It's Monday Here's What I Am Reading

Monday, April 19, 2010
It's Monday What Are You  Reading is a weekly meme hosted by Shelia at One Person's Journey Through Books.

This has been one of very very slow reading weeks. I think after the Read-A-Thon I went into a reading coma. Not to mention I had to make up for all the things I didn't accomplish last weekend. You know like clean house, mow the yard (before my neighbors reported me to the community watchdogs), and visit my dad, who keeps falling and hurting himself.

But the house is clean and the garage, grass is mowed, groceries bought, and I spent some quality time with dad, whose drug induced hallucinations are quite fascinating for a 97 year-old. This week I have an ambitious goal to read, read, read, oh and write reviews.

I did manage to review Fang by James Patterson last week,  and I made the rounds to all the blogs I follow, which took about two day.

So here is what I hope to accomplish this week:

 Reviews to Write:

Gringolandia by Lyn Miller-Lachmann
Boost by Kathy Mackel
Lament: Deception of the Faerie Queen by Maggie Stiefvater

Books to Read:

The Summer of My Skinny Dipping  by Amanda Howells
Storm Glass by Maria Snyder
Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X Stork

Hope you had a better reading week than me.

I liked Marcelo in the Real World a lot! Such a memorable protagonist.

Take care of yourself as you take care of your dad! That is just so draining, but it's wonderful that you're there for him.

My reading/blogging time is getting sucked up by all the summertime chores too. I know what you mean about the grass and the neighborhood watch. Someone left a business card for a lawn-mowing service in our mailbox and we're not sure what to think about that. Was it random advertising (We had just finished mowing) or was someone giving us a hint? Hmmm...

Enjoy your books this week!

You have some great books to read this week. Storm Glass is one of my favorites. I'll be sure to check back for your reviews.

I hope you have a fantastic week!

Yeah, the read-a-thon can cause a little bit of reading burn out. Looks like you have some good books coming up! Hope you enjoy them :)

Yes...the read-a-thon...it was great, but I hear yah on the reading coma! I've had the hardest time voluntarily picking up more books, but I'm sure I will.

So sorry about your dad! I just can't even imagine. My parents are actually struggling with that a bit with my grandmother right now and it's so difficult sometimes. I wish you the best with this, because I know how hard it can be at times.

I can't wait to hear what you think of Marcelo in the Real World! I've been hearing good things about it and have been very tempted to pick it up myself. Hope you have a fabulous reading week and get some rest from all the house work!

PS...My review for House Rules is over at Chick Lit Reviews, although you may want to wait to read the book first, it isn't such a nice review...sorry!

Sounds like you had your hands full this past week! I have to admit that I really enjoyed the first couple of books in the Max Ride series, but Patterson seems so bent on making money over a quality novel that it really has turned me off to his books. Definitely liked your review of Fang though as a lot of people have been reading it.

I just finished Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It was good. I'm excited to try the other series.

Wow - an impressive to-read list. I look forward to your reviews. I'm quite behind in my reading too. Life, laundry and a litany of other things intervene.

You read more than I did! Seriously, if I get one book read a week I consider that a good one.

Your coming week sounds great!

You've definitely been very busy. Unfortunately, reading sometimes has to be pushed to the bottom of our priorities occasionally. But I do hope you're able to spend a lot more time relaxing and reading this week!

Jan -

Looks like a good reading week. I know just what you mean about trying to catch up - our house and yard are in a similar state! I'm still trying to get caught up from my 10-day vacation a week ago!

I can also relate about your aging Dad. My husband's parents are 85 now and in need of some help (my MIL is in a nursing home now with Parksinson's). The problem is that they live in OK and we live in DE - very tough to be so far away at times like this.

Hope you catch up this week AND get some good reading in!
