2010 EW Summer Books

Sunday, April 25, 2010

I am a blog hopper. I love checking out a ton of blogs to see what new things they have posted. I am currently following a lot of blogs and it is almost a full time job making the rounds at least once a week. Naturally, I have my favorites as do most bloggers, and sometimes I admit I still lurk, but since I really love when other bloggers stop and leave comments, I do my best to leave a comment when I stop by.

Anyway, today I hopped over to Beth Fish Reads, which has been on of my favorite blogs early on. Beth writes great reviews and is fairly eclectic in her reading tastes. Today she was posting about yet another challenge that was started by Julie at Booking Mama and while I need another challenge like I need 10 more pounds, I took a look at some of the titles and decided since I already planned on reading a couple of them why not go for it. So here is the plan:

I will be reading 4-6 books which places me in the Guppy level.

Here are the books I have chosen for the challenge:

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Lucy by Laurence Gonzales
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Meyer 6/11
Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok
The Passage by Justin Cronin
The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender 6/10

I opted for books on the EW list of  "18 Books We Can't Wait to Read" (which is where Julie got her inspiration for the challenge) that either had young adult or children as character even though they are not all considered YA reads.

So you need yet another challenge check out Booking Mama and sign up. Summer is just around the corner.

Thanks so much for joining the challenge! I hope you have a wonderful time. So many of the books look terrific!

I know what you mean about following the blogs - sometimes I start to post something, but I get caught up checking out the blogs I follow and find out I've been on the computer for 3 hours - with even posting anything or leaving a comment! I seem to get less reading done also. No wonder some of the bloggers that read tons of books never answer some or their comments!

Well put Mardel. I would agree that those who do not answer their comments often are those who read the most. Still I am glad I do the hopping. I love staying in touch with all the different bloggers and the book they are reading. Perhaps when I get up to 500 or more followers I can sit back and read more too.

Looks like you have a nice list of books for this challenge. I wish you well with this one. :)

THanks for your kind words! Go you on the Guppy level -- but our thinking is the same: I was planning on reading many of those books anyway, why not get challenge credit!

I read that article on EW yesterday. I am planning to read Mockingjay, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, and Girl in Translation. I don't think I will be signing up for the challenge though. We'll see...

Good luck with the challenge!

When does Mocking Jay come out??? Eek! I can't wait!

I've never joined a book challenge. I have enough trouble trying to keep up with everything in books, online, and for my two book groups. I don't want any more pressure!
