Miles to Go Before I Sleep

Sunday, January 10, 2010
Wow! I just spent several hours skipping through the blogosphere dropping comments wherever I landed. First, I have to say that I am amazed and humbled at all the wonderful Kidlit sites I visited. There is a plethora of bloggers promoting children’s literature. I began my trip thanks to Mother Reader’s Comment Challenge (Check it out, another challenge Oh My!), which I of course joined. My reasons for joining were twofold.

# I enjoy looking at what other bloggers are doing, and

#2 (this one is selfish) I hope by leaving comments that I will get other bloggers to visit my blog.

Anyway two hours 15 comments later, I decided it was time to quit, for now at least, and start (late as I am) on the Bloggiesta Challenge, which I wish I had started yesterday, since I spent several hours writing reviews and adding to my posts. Oh well, better late than never.

Here are the sites I visited and left comments:

And here are my plans for the day:

1. Figure out how to add meta description and meta keywords (if I can figure out how)

2. Work on up coming blog posts.

3. Clean out and organizer my feed reader

4. Get my Twitter on

5. Head on over to the library (not sure this one counts)

6. Fix my blog labels

Not a lot and certainly won’t add up to the hours most of the Bloggiesta have accomplished, but I am new and still learning the in’s and out’s of this wonderful world of blogging plus I am two days late getting started.

I'm living proof that commenting on others blogs gets you visitors. Don't feel bad about it, you're building community.

Don't sell yourself short on your goals either. Anything you get done counts!

Jan, I just found your blog over at MotherReader, and i like what I see. And you're right there are so many of us promoting children's literature. It's so nice to be able to support each others endeavors. I've added your blog to my follow list.

All best,
Kim

I definitely had slightly selfish motivations for joining the comment challenge and bloggiesta - I've definitely been thrilled watching my visitor count jump this weekend!

Best of luck on your Bloggiesta tasks - meta tags are definitely easy once you find where they belong. It shouldn't take you too long to complete that. Fixing labels, however, took my almost three hours last night! But I think it was time well spent - I know on my own blog I greatly reduced the number of labels with only 1 post.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and for stopping by. I did find a great blog that helped me with the meta tags and I will share that later in my updates.

1. Thanks for commenting on my page! I'm now following you too. :D
2. I don't think joining the comment challenge to get traffic to your blog is selfish, I think I even read somewhere on her site that that is what part of the challenge is for. And you've been doing a great job commenting other blogs, so it's not like you've joined only to get - you give too.
3. I don't even know what meta tags are...
4. OF COURSE going to the library should count on your to-do list! ;)
