It's Monday, Here's What I Am Reading

Monday, January 17, 2011

Another Monday and another Monday meme with Shelia @ One Person's Journey Through a World of Books answering the question, "What are you reading?"

Books read this week:

You Killed Wesley Payne by Sean Beaudoin

A very funny and satirical look at high school, written in as pulp fiction format.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowlings

I have been wanting to revisit all the HP novels and have to say that I enjoyed this thoroughly and plan on rereading all the books over the course of 2011, to this end I am joining Crystal @ I Totally Paused
for a Harry Potter Read Along.

Cate of the Lost Colony by Lisa Klien

I have had this on TBR shelf for a while. Like many history buffs, I have always been intrigued at the disappearance of the Ronoake Colony and wanted to see how Lisa Klien handled this mystery. Lots of good research and a very believable account.

Soulless by Gail Carringer

OMG! I loved, loved, loved this book! Gail is a marvelous writer. The language, the descriptions, the characters were all amazing, and quite humorous (laugh out loud funny even). Emily Grey narrated the audio version of this book and did a bang up job with the voices of not only Miss Taribotti, but Lord Maccon, and all of the secondary characters as well.

Currently Reading and Listening to:

Changeless by Gail Carringer

Stork by Wendy Delsol

Reviewed:

Trapped by Michael Northrup

The Anchillary Mark by Daniel A Cohen

The Demon Trapper's Daughter by Jana Oliver

Priscilla The Great by  Sybil Nelson

Today is the last day to enter my Dreaming of Books Giveaway, so make sure you check out all the details here.

Hope everyone had a great week, and Can't wait check out what you have been reading.

Ah Soulless! Isn't it fun? You've got hold of the next one in the series already, I see. I'm still hoping to buy or win it soon.

I wonder what Lord Akeldama sounded like on your audio. He's my favorite!

I loved Soulless. I actually want to read it again this year :) I enjoyed Changeless, too. I still haven't read Blameless, but I think I'll wait for Heartless first & than read them together :) I reread the HP series in November & I loved them even more, although I didn't think it was possible to love them more ;) I'm planning to reread Deathly Hallows again in July before the last movie! Have a great week!

P.S. I got the book today, so thank you so much :)

Oh, Harry Potter! I loved those books so much, I think I'd be nervous to re-read them. Sometimes things don't hold up to the memory... although I doubt that will be the case with JK Rowling! Have a good week. :)

PS thanks for leaving a lovely comment on my blog; it's so nice to have messages of support from friends around the world!

I love Carriger's series. I just got her latest Blameless and am excited to read it. I like the idea of formatting a book about high school in the style of pulp fiction, interesting twist. Enjoy your week!

Looks like you've got some great books. Is Soulless the 1st in the series? I've seen some good reviews for it and it sounds like a good read.

I'm really excited about reading Beastly. I saw the other retelling at the library. If I liked Beastly, I'll have to get that one next.

I just finished Love is the Higher Law tonight, and it was terrific. I think it's perfect for a high school classroom setting. It really captures the event through the eyes of a New Yorker. I felt like I learned so much from it.
