"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the SpineThis meme spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Author: Frannie Billingsley
Publisher: Dial
Release Date: March 17, 2011

Before Briony's stepmother died, she made sure Briony blamed herself for all the family's hardships. Now Briony has worn her guilt for so long it's become a second skin. She often escapes to the swamp, where she tells stories to the Old Ones, the spirits who haunt the marshes. But only witches can see the Old Ones, and in her village, witches are sentenced to death. Briony lives in fear her secret will be found out, even as she believes she deserves the worst kind of punishment.

Then Eldric comes along with his golden lion eyes and mane of tawny hair. He's as natural as the sun, and treats her as if she's extraordinary. And everything starts to change. As many secrets as Briony has been holding, there are secrets even she doesn't know.
(Publisher's summary from Amazon)

I have never read a book that is set in the Swamps, and I am wondering about the time frame for this one since the summary talks about the village sentencing witches to death, I am thinking it has to be early 1700-1800's. Mystery and romance, definitely has my interest piqued, and the cover is pretty cool too.

What are your waiting for?

Really good wait.Haven't heard of this one before, but it's a put-on-wishlist candidate! What a stepmother, I wanted to call her a witch until I read that Briony is one herself( in a good sense):D

I've added this one to my wishlist because it sounds incredible. As I was adding it, I noticed that the Goodreads summary answered some of your questions. So here it is:

In the early twentieth century in Swansea, Wales, seventeen-year-old Briony, who can see the spirits that haunt the marshes around their town, feels responsible for her twin sister’s horrible injury until a young man enters their lives and exposes secrets that even Briony does not know about.

Hopefully that fills in a few blanks. This looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.

This one sounds good! You know, if you like adult books, Ilona Andrews' Edge Series is set in the swamps and they are pretty good. Book 2 was my fave.
