It's Monday Here's What I've Been Reading

Monday, November 15, 2010
It's Monday What Are You Reading is a wonderful weekly meme hosted by Shelia  at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, and asks the question: What are you reading?

It's hard to believe that we're already halfway into November and that Thanksgiving is almost upon us. The leaves are falling and while here in the the Midwest we have been having a beautiful Indian Summer, there is still a chill in the air and Winter will be arriving in no time. A great time for curling up by a fire and tackling the ever growing TBR shelf.

This week I managed to do a little better with my reading and posting of reviews. But as I look over my 2010 Challenges I also realized there were a few I was not going to finish if I don't get cracking.

Book Read:

The Single Shard by Linda Sue Park
This book is on the Area Wide Book Battle List for 2010/2011 and was a true surprise.

Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney
Very interesting concept and a debut novel

The Jumper Chronicles: Quest for Merlin's Map by W. C. Peever
Very well written fantasy and the start to a series, which I am quite excited to read more about. Reminded me of Harry Potter and The Lightening Thief

Books Reviewed:

Nightshade City by Hillary Wagner

Contagion by Joanne Dahme

Deception by Lee Nichols

I have three more challenges to finish: the POC Challenge, which  I will have time to do ( I need 2 more books), the Support your Local Library, which I am too far behind to finish (what can I say I am a book buying fiend), and the Take Another Chance, which I have one more challenge to do and should be able to complete by the deadline.

So how was your week? What good reads did you finish?

Nice line-up of books. I can't believe how fast the year has flown and I also have a couple of challenges that I have no hope of completing... Library challenge and 100 +
Hope you have a great week :)

Your reading list looks intriguing...hope you enjoy them all.

I, too, am noticing the swift passage of time. Hard to believe, isn't it? But today I actually felt a chill in the air.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I have The Mockingbirds in my to be read stack. I should be getting to it over the Thanksgiving Break. The Jumper Chronicles sounds interesting, but neither Pikes Peak Library nor Douglas County Libraries have it. Maybe I can get them to do an interlibrary loan.

I've been reading a lot about Mockingbirds though I don't think I've actually read a review of it yet. I'll be curious to read your thoughts on it.

I have one Book Challenge I'm not going to finish either. I really wanted to get through my Science Book Challenge and I started several, but I just didn't make it to the end of them. It wasn't because the books I started were bad, I just kept getting distracted from them. I did however finish my other non-fiction book challenge.

Good luck with your Challenges.

I know exactly what you mean about the Library Challenge! I signed up fully expecting to be able to finish it up easy, but then my online book buying got the better of me. That combined with publishers sending me books left no room for library trips.

Your review of Deception was great! I think I may wait though to pick it up until after the second in the series comes out so I'm not waiting so long. :o)

Have a fabulous reading week and as always, thank you so much for stopping by earlier!

I liked the first of the Jumper Chronicles too. To counter balance the large number of academic journal articles I'm reading, I read a bunch of books off my wishlist. Here's what I'm reading this week.

I just went to the Mockingbirds site (Daisy's site). wow. Intense sounding book. Should be a required read for some.

Linda Sue Park has some great books out also.

Well, as usual - have a great and happy reading week.

I'm really beginning to think that I should get around to reading Mockingbirds - I keep seeing that book around the blogs, I swear it's like it refuses to be ignored. Sounds like you had a very good reading week - I'm currently between Shadow Hills, Relatively Famous and Wind and Fire - all of which I'm enjoying immensely. Hope the rest of the week continues to be a fabulous reading week for you.
