It's Monday Here's What I've Been Reading

Monday, November 8, 2010
It's Monday What Are You Reading is a wonderful weekly meme hosted by Shelia  at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, and asks the question: What are you reading?

I am almost embarrassed to even participate in this meme this week as I have so little to report. The week flew by with me trying to get all my students grades ready for the end of the grading period. Lots of grading (the one thing I really dislike about teaching) a test and a field trip where our students got to dissect a pig heart, and I finally decided, after listening to the heart surgeon discuss heart disease that it was time for me to lose weight. All very exhausting.

Then my usual weekend reading marathon was totally interrupted with a mandatory house cleaning and grandma babysitting the 2 1/2 year old so mommy and daddy could have a much needed night out. The phrase "I ain't as young as I use to be" comes to mind here as my grandson Jarred had me exhausted just watching him play.

So I only finished one book this week:

Contagion by Joanne Dahme (very good read, review to come)

I did sign up for the Gratitude Giveaway which will run from November 17-28. This giveaway was the brain child of Kathy at I Am A Reader, Not A Writer  as a way to thank all our lovely followers and has over 170 participates. So, make sure you stop by November 17, for all the details.

So, how was your week? Can't wait to see all the fabulous books you read this week.

LOL your post gave me a giggle, nice not to be the only one who has so little to report :) Although I think one book is a good effort.
Hope you have a great reading week this week!

I know how you feel! I've been babysitting/visiting with my granddaughter every weekend and with my grandson two to three times a week. I wouldn't give the time with them up for anything....but I am exhausted and I haven't been reading like I used to. However, nothing - nothing at all - compares to time spent with grandchildren. It's just so tiring.

Happily exhausted! :)

Playing with grandchildren is a totally valid excuse for little reading. As for assessment - nowhere near as fun, but still needs to be done unfortunately!

your grandson is cute! i love it when bloggers include extra little things from their lives. It is so much hard work having toddlers! Phew, for me, that stage is over!

I read three books. which is better than i thought as i was planning on reading none while doing nano. I guess i read to procrastinate :)

Jan I had a busy week done too and did not read everything I had hoped too. Life seems to constantly pick up - not slow down :)

Hope you have a great week this week! :)

Ah, I know what you mean about the grandkids! I have seven, but I've only regularly "babysat" two of them, but they are now 13 and 7; the 7-year-old is actually pretty civilized now and, of course, the 13-year-old hasn't required "babysitting" in awhile. She and her cousin (my other granddaughter) from LA are exactly the same age and both have Facebook pages!

Your grandson is cute. I miss that age, although it's easier (sometimes!) when they're older.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

One is better than none!

Grandchildren are exhausting but such fun and 21/2 is a lovely age.

Happy reading!

What a cutie pie! Your grandson is adorable and I'm sure he really appreciated your lack of reading. :o)

Hopefully, for your sake, the week will be a little slower and you can squeeze in a few extra reads! Have a fabulous reading week!

The end of the marking period kept my sons busy, too!

Well, babysitting your adorable grandson is a pretty good excuse for not reading. My mom and her husband are always exhausted after time with the kids!

Can't wait to hear more about Contagion.

Sounds like you had an exhausting and busy week. I hate weeks with not enough time for reading :(

Good for you for deciding to lose weight to keep yourself healthy. I'm currently working on losing weight, as well!

Your grandson is a cutie!

Cute grandson. Research and wishlist books make up the bulk of my reading last week. Here's what I'm reading this week.

I always have these lofty reading goals, and then I get like 1.5 books read...so don't worry, I always under perform ;)

The cover for Contagion is gorgeous, I want to read it just because of that!
