It's Monday Here's What I've Been Reading

Monday, October 18, 2010
It's Monday What Are You Reading is a wonderful weekly meme hosted by Shelia  at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, and asks the question: What are you reading?

Last week I wasn't able to read much during the week due to parent teacher conference, which marks for me a halfway mark into the first semester. It is actaully amazing how quickly the days have flown by this year as it really only seems like a few weeks ago I was starting back to school.

The good news is that while I work later two nights a week I also got an extra day off and of course I used that free time to catch up on my reading.

Books read:

Annexed by Sharon Dogar (Peter's view of life in the attic hiding from the Nazis)

Matched by Alle Condie (a debut dystopian novel)

Wicked Girls by Stephanie Hemphill (fictional account of the Salem hysteria told in verse)

Reviews posted:

Heart With Joy by Steve Cushman (a wonderful coming of age story with great characterization)

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh (a debut novel and a perfect read for October)

Currently Listening to:

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

Hope you had a great week!

Oooh - Wicked Girls sounds interesting - The Salem Trials are fascinating and I love verse novels.

Also, looking forward to your thoughts on Matched :)

Ah, a dystopian novel! Matched. I don't know it, but "dystopian" always sounds good. Hope you'll do a review on it this week.

Happy reading!

I loved Matched and I want to read Wicked Girls. I will have to read your review of Nevermore. I kind of put it aside to read The Lost Hero because I couldn't wait to start that one.

I hope you enjoy the Patrick Ness novel. I really need to get around to reading it as well as the Gone novels. Have a great week!

I just read an article in School Library Journal about Annexed and how Dogar sexualized Peter and Anne's relationship. I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on that one, especially because I ordered it for my shelves at school!!! I received an email from Cushman to read his book and now I remember reading your great review of this one, so I may have to rethink accepting a review copy!! Looks like your week was great even with those P-T conferences. Ours are right around the corner and I'm with you at how fast this school year is going already!!

Have a great week!

I remember attending parent-teacher conferences. I do miss those times. My position was one of the eliminated positions due to economy.

Thank you for stopping by my site. Your books sound great. Happy Reading.
