Waiting On Wednesday/ Lucy by Laurence Gonzales

Wednesday, April 28, 2010
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases.

ISBN: 9780307272607
Author: Gonzales, Laurence
Publisher:Knopf Publishing Group
Publication Date: July 2010

Lucy, the fourteen-year-old daughter of a primatologist, a girl who has had only apes as playmates, is rescued from the jungles of the Congo during a civil war uprising and brought to live in the suburbs of Chicago. The stunning revelation of who—and what—she is sets in motion her fight for survival and for her very right to exist.

Here is a novel that has as its underpinnings the moral, ethical, and philosophical issues of cutting-edge biotechnology, genetic engineering, and cloning, and that masterfully explores what it means to be human (Publisher's Comments from GoodReads).

The reasons I chose this is because it reminds me of Eva by Peter Dickinson, which I read several year ago and recently  reviewed  for a Recommend Me Friday.

As far as I know this is NOT actually a YA book, but I  felt this might work as a cross over novel since the story revolves around a fourteen year-old girl.

So what are you waiting on?
