Spectrum:
  • used to classify something, or suggest that it be classified, in terms of its position on a scale between two extreme or opposite points.
  • wide range

Sunday Spectrum is a new weekly meme I created to spotlight various blogs post that I read and enjoyed. These posts might represent a  wide range of interesting or different insights,  reviews, or discussion  that I believe are worth checking out. Feel free to grab the button and post your own Sunday Spectrum.

The first post I want to focus on today is a seven part series on building better books for boys written by David Elzy at Fomagrams.  Anyone reading children's lit will appreciate the wonderful insights Elzy has into books for boys. I found this series via the Kidlitosphere Central News thanks to Jen Robinson's Book Page's great post of Feb. 20.   If you have not read this series yet, DO! and give it to all the librarians and teachers you know.

At Chasing Ray this week I read an interesting review about an picture book titled The Adventures of Princess and Mr Whiffle: The Thing Beneath the Bed.  Collen Mondor is one of my favorite reviewers. I love stopping by to read all her posts. But this one really caught my attention because of the books cover and the fact that she mentions the book is definitely not for children, and while it freak her out, she couldn't stop turning pages. Check out what else she has to say and take a look at the book. I am definitely going to buying this one.

Lastly, I wanted to give everyone a heads up about Melissa's  contest over at I Swim for Oceans.  What makes this contest  unique is that to enter you have to come up with a title for the book she is working on (she is in the process of editing her manuscript). While of course it would be nice to win a signed copy of Hush Hush by Becca Fitspatrick (because I am probably one of the few bloggers out there who hasn't read this yet), I would have entered just to try my hand at writing a title for Melissa's book. Melissa provides a blurb of the book to get your creative juices flowing. The contest ends March 5.

Well, that is it for my Sunday Spectrum. I will be searching the blogosphere this week for other blogs to spotlight next week.
